I have been keeping a list of all the beers that I try. I started keeping the list in 1988, but I have beers listed that I have tried before 1988.
If I have a beer in a bottle and I have it on draught, I count it as two different beers. For example, I previously had Shipyard Brewing Old Thumper Extra Special Ale in a bottle. Later, I was at Coasters Pub in Melbourne, Florida it on draught. I counted the draught as a separate entry, because there is something special about having a beer on draught.
I first got interested in beer tasting while living in the Dallas, TX area in 1988. I went to Stan’s Blue Note with some friends from work. My friend Chuck bought me a Dragon Stout (imported from Jamaica). At the time, I remarked that it tastes like a cross between beer and paint. After I finished the first bottle, I had a second. When I did, the bartender announced on the public address that I was a very sick man for ordering a second Dragon Stout.
